Alaris

Where it all began
There was very little in the beginning beyond primordial essence and raw energy. Among the primordial ooze, the Overseer guided the energy to collect into the first entity and set her sights on studying its growth. An entity powerful enough that it inspired fear. A being known as Irasil. Irasil's pantheon of gods, his creations, helped him lead creation and form the world of Alaris.
Out of fear, or out of spite for an entity they themselves couldnt conquer, the gods broke the entity Irasil into shards and scattered his pieces across the world so that his power couldnt threaten them again. It was because of this that Irasil is labeled as both the Broken God and the God of fear and despair. His shards would land among the planet, where they sprouted regions of incredible magic power. These regions were hidden by the gods so that nobody could profit from his latent greed and despair. The power of just the shards of his body were enough to rip holes in the fabric of space and time, setting the stage for chaos to descend upon Alaris.
Next to go was Bariace, whos power was so pure and unfettered that he inspired envy and greed among some of the gods, and he too was to be imprisoned. Bariace didnt need to be broken, so he was cast down onto Atrisea, which was once a land of incredible growth and development. The force of him being embedded in the planet was enough to devastate Atrisea and turn it into a wasteland. A land that rivaled Crisalura in progress and light was snuffed out in an accursed instant.
Over millenia, the world would grow. Races flourished and the beginnings of civilizations formed. People worshipped the gods as these pure beings who could do no wrong, unaware of the ways they turned on themselves and even went so far as to lock their brother away in the planet. It wasnt until the races of Crisalura, Terris, Ertoba and even Sihuriel began to explore the ruined Atrisea to try and discover what happened to create its current state. What they would find is a smoldering hole in the ground on the west bank, surrounded by pillars of stone on each of the cardinal points of the compass.
It was then that Bariace woke up in his prison, even if he was unable to escape. His wrath and his sorrow at the betrayal forced him to unleash his Corruption across Atrisea, warping the races that had taken residence on the continent and turning them into twisted versions of what they once were. He would return to slumber from time to time, forced back into a state of stasis by the pillars that surrounded him. Each time he woke up again caused huge destruction and global changes. These would come to be known as Cataclysms. There were two to date. One opened up the Crypts of Decay and the Eternal Rebirth, the forms of afterlife on Alaris. The other would destroy the concealment of Irasils shards, allowing races across the globe to explore dimensions of power that would overwhelm even the most prepared adventurer. For a long time, Bariace slumbered.
In the final year of the 4th Era, the binding of Bariace was finally weakened, and the god himself woke from his slumber. The resulting rage and chaos created the 3rd cataclysm, which splintered Alaris into pieces and was the catalyst for the reformation of the entire planet to save it from total annihilation.
